Although there are over twelve different crane species in the world, my favorite is the Japanese Crane or Grus Japonensis, known as the Dancing Crane. They really do dance! If they don't have a partner, they will dance with a piece of grass, tossing it in the air and leaping up to meet it. Cranes live long and mate for life, so they symbolize happy marriage.
