Artist I-Hsiung Ju in front of Chinese landscape painting
I-Hsiung Ju

I-Hsiung Ju
(朱一雄), Chinese Brush Painting master, was my mentor from 1986 until his death in 2012. This gallery shows a selection of paintings he created during those years, many of them for his students.

While I-Hsiung Ju was his given name, the name he used as his art name and signed on his paintings was Tan Feng (丹鋒).

His painting style is Southern School "Xie-Yi", which means "paint the idea". It is also known as spontaneous style, as opposed to Northern School which stresses the creation of an outline first and then coloring in.
